For the Moment: Campaign Update, Spring 2017

The Pivotal Moments campaign is Wayne State’s most ambitious fundraising effort to date. And as every gift to every area of the university counts toward our goal of $750 million, gifts of all sizes make a difference. To date, more than $30 million has been contributed through gifts of just $1,000 or less.

When many Wayne State alumni and friends give even a small amount, they combine to make a big impact. This was highlighted during the first Wayne State Giving Day on April 4, when more than 650 donors gave over $227,000 in just one day!

Student organization OptimizeWayne participated in Giving Day and has benefited from the impact of small gifts through WarriorFunder, Wayne State’s crowdfunding platform. OptimizeWayne sought to raise $500 to help students develop a project for social change in the local community. They ultimately exceeded their goal, thanks to many gifts of $10 or $25 from donors who cared about their mission.

Donors are always encouraged to support the initiatives they are passionate about at the university. With so many departments, programs and activities in need of funding, there are many ways to impact Wayne State through giving.

Thanks to the generosity of more than 76,000 donors, Wayne State has now raised about $623 million during the Pivotal Moments fundraising campaign, which ends in 2018.
