For the Moment: Campaign Update, Winter 2017

Thanks to more than 71,000 donors, Wayne State has now raised $612 million during the Pivotal Moments fundraising campaign. With just under two years remaining in the campaign, the university is at nearly 82 percent of our $750 million goal!

This campaign honors the pivotal moments Wayne State has created in people’s lives and provides support for current and future moments for students, faculty and the community.

Every gift to every area of the university is part of Pivotal Moments: Our Campaign for Wayne State University. While all gifts count toward our goal, the campaign is organized around four priority areas:

  • Inspire our students and faculty to be curious and passionate
  • Discover new approaches, solutions and areas of inquiry through multidisciplinary, traditional and applied research
  • Create fresh expressions of existing knowledge
  • Engage through community service, enriching the culture and economy of Detroit and beyond

These priorities speak to Wayne State’s mission to create and advance knowledge, prepare a diverse student body to thrive, and positively impact local and global communities. Philanthropic support provides resources beyond traditional funding sources, such as tuition, state support and government research grants. With students as our top priority, our goal is to raise $275 million for student scholarships and programs.

As the university moves toward the successful completion of Pivotal Moments in 2018, the Division of Development and Alumni Affairs will share regular updates on the campaign’s progress and its impact on the university.
